Work on the thing Web3 keeps not building.

Onyx is 58 people whose product is a defensible opinion. The work is slow, careful, and occasionally makes powerful people angry. If that reads as a warning, it is. If it reads as a job description, keep going.

How we work

What it's like, honestly.

Recruiting pages are usually the least credible thing a company publishes. We'd rather you self-select out now than leave at month three.

01

Your name goes on the work.

Every rating carries a named lead reviewer. Every watchlist case names who signed it. When we're wrong, the correction names the same person. Accountability is individual here, not institutional.

02

Writing is the job.

Analysts write. Engineers write. The methodology, the cases, the post-mortems — they're all documents first. If producing a careful 4,000-word argument sounds like punishment, this is the wrong company.

03

Pressure is part of the role.

Rated projects dispute scores. Some send lawyers. Twice, someone has offered an analyst money. The company's job is to absorb that pressure so the score doesn't move — and so far, it hasn't.

Conditions of employment, stated up front. Every analyst and reviewer discloses all wallets on hire and holds no positions in projects under coverage — screening runs every 24 hours against the coverage universe. Personal trading in rated assets is prohibited for analysts and restricted for everyone else. Violations end employment and are documented in the annual independence report. This is non-negotiable at every level, including the founders.
Open roles

Nine seats.

Salary ranges are posted because asking you to guess is a negotiating tactic, and we don't rate projects that play games with disclosure.

We read every speculative application that includes a piece of work. If you've written something careful about a project we rate — especially something that disagrees with our score — send that.
