Advertising · paid placement · media kit v2.1

Placement is sold. Approval never is.

Onyx sells a small, fixed inventory of clearly labeled placements. Every advertiser must hold a live listing or rating in good standing. No ad buys position in ratings, changes a score, or reaches the desk. Advertising revenue is reported quarterly in our public disclosures.

Six placements. That's the whole list.

We do not run programmatic ads, retargeting, or third-party trackers. Every slot is sold directly, creative is reviewed before it runs, and everything is labeled "Sponsored" in a visual language that cannot be confused with an earned badge.

Conditions

Rules every buyer accepts.

You must be in good standing.
Advertisers must hold a live App Store listing, project rating, or vetted provider profile. Projects on the watchlist, under investigation, or removed cannot buy placement — active campaigns pause automatically if a case opens.
Placement buys position, never approval.
Ads do not change scores, review outcomes, coverage decisions, or organic ordering. The ratings desk and the editorial desk cannot see the sponsor ledger.
Everything is labeled, in our visual language.
Sponsored units use the flat "Sponsored" pill — a different shape language from earned credibility seals, by design. Creative that imitates earned badges is rejected.
The ledger is public.
Every active sponsor, campaign window, and quarterly ad-revenue total is published in the sponsor registry. If you are not comfortable being listed, do not advertise.
Revenue is capped.
Advertising may not exceed 40% of Onyx revenue in any quarter. When the cap binds, inventory goes to waitlist rather than expanding.
